About Georgia Forestry Magazine
Georgia's 22 million acres of commercially-available, private timberland, provide a myriad of economic, environmental and social benefits to the state's citizens. However, they are not here by accident. Most of Georgia's forests are privately owned by ordinary citizens who provide truly extraordinary services. These stewards of the land use their own resources to manage healthy forests that benefit every Georgian. Their forests provide air to breathe, water to drink, beauty and recreation to enjoy, and products to sustain our lives.
Over several generations, the forest industry has turned trees into turpentine then into lumber, poles, posts, panels, pulp, paper and specialty chemicals. Today, trees are used in thousands of common consumer items that play a vital role in improving your health and your everyday life. Because of healthy markets for timber from private forest landowners, Georgia's working forests grow significantly more trees than are harvested annually. These are Georgia's working forests.
Georgia Forestry Magazine is published by HL Strategy in partnership with the Georgia Forestry Association and Georgia Forestry Commission. Together we are focused on telling the story of Georgia's working forests, the landowners and producers who steward the land, and the manufacturers who are promoting innovative uses of wood.
